For maths this week we have been learning how to multiply, using the grid method. We have been consolidating our knowledge of our times tables with games and activities. We also started our new topic, time, and we were learning a strategy to memorise the 9 times table.

We have been taking part in Scot's language and culture activities with week and we have been learning some Scot's words and enjoyed singing head, shoulders knees and toes in Scot's. We learned about Scottish tartan and how each tartan represents a family/clan, and we made our own tartan. We learned about different Scot's animals and used tartan paper to make a silhouette of a chosen animal.

For writing we have started to learn about persuasive writing. This week we looked at a piece of persuasive writing about dogs being the best pets. The pupils then chose an animal and wrote their own persuasive text making sure they included an introduction, at least 3 opinions with reasons and a conclusion. We talked about the importance of bossy language and time connectives.

For project, we started looking at the brain and how complex this is. The children took part in the Stroop game and a memory game. Your child can teach you a strategy to memorise a list of objects.

For PE this term we will be doing gymnastics on Wednesdays. Please can you ensure that your child has indoor gym shoes and to ensure safety, hoodie jumpers cannot be worn while taking part in gymnastic activities. Football strips and tops must also not be worn. Pupils also need to make sure that all jewellery is removed and any stud earrings that cannot be removed are taped.

Thank you for your support,
