For maths this week we have been learning to add by using the partitioning strategy and consolidating our learning by using the add strategies learned to answer word problems.  We have also continued to practise our mental adding using different strategies to support. We also looked at 3D shapes and their nets this week.

For Literacy this week we have been learning about figurative language, our focus was to identify and use similes, metaphors and onomatopoeia. We learned that lots of songs have figurative language and one of the songs we looked at was fireworks by Katy Perry. We listened to the song and identified the similes. We used our knowledge learned to write an imaginary description of Autumn.

For Enterprise, the children were creating PowerPoints based on products they would like to make for our Christmas Fayre. Some very creative ideas! Well done to Brooke, who won the class company logo competition. Our new class company name, logo and slogan will be uploaded to Seesaw for all to see.

Unfortunately, due to the weather we were unable to go outside for Run Club but enjoyed taking part in our fitness circuit encouraging one another to do our best. For Outdoor learning we went outside and collected signs of autumn and used these to make some collages. We will continue as the weather allows to go out for run club and outdoor learning on a Wednesday. Please can you make sure that your child has a waterproof jacket, a change of shoes/wellies and socks for outdoor learning.

Have a lovely long weekend :)

Thank you,
Mrs Elvin, Mrs Forrest & P6
