What a busy week!

We started our week with a visit from Robertson Homes Community Champion at Reconnector. She shared a presentation based on Safety and not entering building sites. We were all invited to take part in a Safety poster competition. We got straight to work on our posters discussing the important features of a poster and we all tried to include a title, key information, clear, bright and eye-catching images to grab the reader's attention.

In Numeracy this week be continued our learning on place value with practising our rounding skills. We learned about rounding decimals and using rounding to help us estimate answers.  We also continued our learning of multiplying and then dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, with whole numbers and decimals.
We have been working out how to calculate the area of squares and rectangles. The children were in charge of creating zoo enclosures for some animals and had to work out the area and perimeter of each enclosure.

In Art we have been creating our cauliflower Christmas card designs, we looked at different winter scene and pick a design. We enjoyed using different media including paint and collage. Hope you enjoy seeing what they have created, and I look forward to receiving your order forms back on Monday. Please remember to indicate on the form if you are planning to buy items or not.

For PE this week we took part in fitness circuits in the hall. We did a variety of exercises that develop our skills of,  flexibility and balance, stamina and strength. We did each exercise for a minute and rotated.

We used the leaves that we found on the field, we looked at the structure of a leaf through crayon rubbings and tried to identify the different types of trees from the leaves we collected. Next week weather permitting we will go on an explorative walk around the school grounds to map the different trees.

In Social Studies, we were learning about the structure of the earth. The children were labelling and describing each part of the structure.

We have been working hard on organising our Macmillan Fun Day. P6 have created posters and decorations for the big day. Everyone has a job for the day. Some of the children made delicious Biscoff fudge with our parent helper, Jen! This will be sold at our Fun Day.

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Elvin, Mrs Forrest & P6
