This week we have continued looking at identifying and using a variety of openers. We read part of our class novel and highlighted the different openers. As the story was about how a star was born, we wrote sentences about stars using different openers.

In ICT and Writing we have continued our research about John Muir and the John Muir trust. We then used the knowledge we had learned to start to make a leaflet all about John Muir.

In numeracy we have consolidated our learning of reading large numbers by writing the large numbers in words and listening to each other read the large numbers.  We have also continued our learning on Multiplying by 10,100 and 1000. Next week we will be looking more at dividing by 10, 100 and 1000.
In measurement we have been working out how to calculate the perimeter of a shape. The children took on Professor Lockhart's challenge, to investigate the perimeter of a range of cages for a dinosaur park that she was hoping to build.

In our project we looked into The Space Race. Children completed a space travel timeline.

The highlight of this week was using our berries we collected to create berry ink. We are looking forward to using our ink to make some artwork. Also, in outdoor learning we went for an explorative walk around the school grounds to find leaves and seeds. We also very excited when we spotted a caterpillar.
