It’s December! We have had lots of Christmas-themed fun this week. We started our advent calendar and we also discovered on Wednesday that we have a class elf visiting from the North Pole. Her name is Jingalina and she will be with us right up until the end of term.

In Numeracy, we have started our money topic. We have been using our addition and subtraction skills to stay within a budget. The children were given the challenge to plan a Christmas party for 5 of their chosen guests. They were given a budget of £250 and they had to buy food and drink for a Christmas meal, decorations and a present for each of their guests. They have been working in pairs and have been showing great teamwork.

In Project, we have looked at the importance of having a finance, advertising and production team. The children have got to experience each of these roles by producing a Sock Snowy each, creating posters to advertise these and work out how much it costs to make each Sock Snowy and what to sell them for in order to make a profit. Keep an eye out on Seesaw for some adverts next week, where the children will be selling their own Sock Snowy.

As a follow up to anti-bullying week, we have been focusing on kindness and how this can have a positive ripple effect. The children have been putting together their own kindness advent calendars for the month of December and will be bringing their calendars home when complete. Their aim is to carry out at least one act of kindness a day.

I hope you all have a great weekend, Mrs Forrest 😊
