Week 2 - What a wonderful week we have had in P6! The children have shown enthusiasm in everything they have done.

In Writing, we have been using our imaginations. Children have started to develop some interesting characters and we will continue to focus on this next week.

In Maths, we have started our place value topic. Children have been reading and writing numbers into the trillions!

Our new topic this term is Edinburgh and our class novel is Greyfriars Bobby. The children have engaged fantastically in discussions about our novel. They have been very excited about our new topic.

We have also been focusing on different genres in reading and the children have been identifying key features of different genres.

We discovered earlier in the week that Castle Rock in Edinburgh is actually a dormant volcano!
In science today we did a little more research on volcanos and then created our own ‘lava’. Photos have been uploaded to Seesaw. The children had such a fun time carying out this experiment.

Week 3 - Another super week for P6!

In Writing, children focused on one of the main characters in their creatve stories and made a character profile on them, providing lots of detail about their appearance. They also included similes and metaphors to describe them.

In Maths, we have been focusing on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1,000. Children have been challenging themselves by working with decimal fractions!

We finished our class novel this week – The Tale of Greyfriars Bobby. The children listened to the novel very well. Yesterday the children created a storyboard about the story. They had to identify the main events of the story and summarise them.

Our science focus this term will be ‘Waves and Vibrations’. Today we looked into how some animals communicate with one another and recreated some of these sounds!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, Mrs Forrest 😊
