Term 2 – Week 5 Update

I can’t believe that yet another week has finished already!

In Numeracy, this week we have completed our first times-table challenge (x7) and the class scored very well. This week’s homework focus will be on the x8 table – hopefully the children have already been working on this at home with you. The next assessment for this will be on Monday. We have moved on from multiplication on to division work and I have been very impressed with their work so far. Division can be a difficult concept for children to grasp fully but the class are working very well on a range of problems. Look out for some explanatory videos coming next week on Seesaw.

In Literacy, we have looked at onomatopoeic words and how they can help improve the quality of a written story. In our comprehension work, we have used a digital media format as a source for our questions. All of the class’ comprehension work is continuing to improve.

In Art, the class have really worked hard on recreating Vincent van Gogh’s painting ‘Starry Night’. We studied the way that he built up the look and feel of the painting by his use of colour and brush strokes. The class are producing some wonderful versions of their own with many now on display in the classroom. You can see their work as they finish in their Seesaw Learning Journal.

In PE, we have been working on improving our ball passing skills. Small exercises in passing, ball handling and moving into space has really made an impact. We have some very talented sports people in class.

I hope that you are enjoying the more frequent updates of your child’s time in class. As a result of these updates the amount of work being displayed on our class blog has been reduced. However, this still is a great way to catch up on general class news. The link is below.
