P6 Weekly Update

What a dramatic week!  Not with anything bad but just one full of ‘drama’. P6 and P5/6 came to the decision to stage a performance of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ near Easter. Further details will be made available for performance dates etc. as soon as we have firmed up the dates.

Keeping with the drama theme, in Literacy, we looked at script writing and how a play script should be set out and, in particular, the importance of stage directions. Our Education Manager was a class visitor on Wednesday and she commented on just how engaged the children were in their learning of how to write a script. We had some fun with their scripts on Thursday as each group gave a mini-performance to class.

Well done to everybody who learned their Burns poetry for the recital on Monday. There were some fabulous performances. Congratulations to Amy, James Lees and Lauren who were chosen by the class to proceed to the next stage. After another super performance to Mrs McIntosh, and after a very, very close vote, James Lees was selected to represent P6 at assembly today. Fantastic effort everyone!

In Topic, we have continued to learn about our solar system and this week we have looked at the order of the planets. The children were trying to come up with rhymes to remember them. My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nachos seemed to be popular for some reason, I wonder why!

Throughout the school this week, we are starting to have more of a focus on ensuring that children come to school in appropriate school uniform. In addition to this, please could I kindly ask that the children remember to bring their PE kit to school too?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Mr. Morgan.
