P5/6 Update

As Mrs Wehmeyer has been unwell this week, I have had the pleasure of being in P5/6 for most of the week and I must say just how enjoyable the week has been. The class have been so respectful and so hard-working that it has been a fantastic week.

In Literacy, the class have been working on their imaginative writing skills with a focus on scary stories to get everyone in the Halloween spirit. For Grammar, the class have been working on the use of commas within sentences to introduce clarifying or explanatory additional information. They have worked hard on this and grasped the concept very well.

In Numeracy, we have been working on quick recall of the seven and eight times tables as well as working on addition using the column method.

On Thursday, we had a practical STEM session with visitors from UHI Perth who gave the children a challenge to ‘Save the Baby’ by designing a way to protect an egg (the baby) when dropping it from a height without it cracking. Lots of great ideas and problem solving on display.

A quick reminder to please keep an eye out for any email and messages from school regarding next week and what that will entail. At this time, the school could possibly be closed next week on Wednesday the 8th due to planned industrial action. The school will also be closed to pupils next Friday the 10th for an In-Service day.

I hope that you have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend and if I am still with P5/6 next week I will look forward to catching-up with you all again next week.

Kind regards,

Mr. Morgan.
