Good afternoon all,

I hope that you have all had a super week and had a chance to really enjoy the recent spell of good weather. The class have been out each day too to take advantage of the outside space here at Canmore.

Linking our daily exercise, French and Health and Well-being this week, has been our Eiffel Tower challenge. Whilst doing a little research on the Eiffel Tower we found out that it is 1710 steps from the ground to the very top. As we have a great set of steps at the east end of our playground, the class have undertaken the challenge of climbing the equivalent of the Eiffel Tower’s steps. A quick bit of numeracy later and the class started climbing the steps 35.5 times! We’ve cheated slightly as we have spread our challenge out over Monday to Friday but the class got there today! Some of our boys have even managed to almost climb it twice – ah to be so young and fit! Well done P5/6!

In Literacy, we have started looking at persuasive writing techniques and the class have really engaged with the discussion points I have posed for them. Asking them to persuade me that very early bedtimes, no digital technology access, or longer school days are not good ideas have somehow managed to motivate them in their writing. What wonderful persuasive arguments they are coming up with. In the next couple of weeks, we are planning to use these skills to have a mock trial for Mary, Queen of Scots – was she really guilty of treason?

Our lessons in RSHP have been going very well and the class have been very respectful and listened closely. Please ask your child about their learning so far.

And finally, it was so lovely to see the class resplendent in their uniforms on Thursday for the class photographs. They all looked so smart.

I hope you all have a relaxing, safe and enjoyable long-weekend.

Mr Morgan.
