And another week has just flown by in P5/6!  I am constantly surprised by just how quick the learning week has been since we returned to face-to-face teaching. The class are also surprised at just how quickly their learning day passes.

This week in our context for learning and literacy, we have been busy linking our learning about how to report facts in a newspaper to how Mary, Queen of Scots, was involved in a murder, or two! This has been a particularly gruesome part of her life story and the children all have their opinions of just how much she was involved in the murder of her second husband. We will continue our ‘Whodunnit’ investigations next week.

In Health and Wellbeing, we have continued to work on designing/planning and building our ‘Bug Hotels’. We explored the open spaces around the school and gathered materials to use. We used tools to measure and cut rods to help build a framework. Hopefully, we will have these completed by Monday of next week to place around the school area. I have added the video of how to create a Bug Hotel to our Seesaw Journal should you wish to do one at home too.

In Numeracy, we have completed our assessments on fractions and some of the class are eager to move on to early algebra next week. For others in the class, we will be reassessing our knowledge of multiplication and division.

Our learning in French and Digital Literacy have linked and the class have started to research and create a SWAY presentation in GLOW on all things French. When we looked at a good example prior to starting, the class were surprised at just how much there is to learn about France as well as how familiar some of the things already are to them – macarons seem to be popular as well as crepes. We will continue this next week and progress our counting/numbers in French too.

I hope you all have a super and relaxing weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
