P5/6 Update

Once again, another quick week comes to an end in P5/6. December, and the run up to Christmas, has definitely arrived with a bang, or should I say in a flurry of wool!

This week in class we have started to think about, and work on, our mini-enterprise learning context. Our enterprise concept is to create ‘pompom creatures’. In Literacy, we discussed how they should be advertised and how persuasive language could be used to help advertise the product. In Art and Digital Literacy, we have started to think about how we could use different media, or software, in our advertising process. The class started making prototype creatures this week and, well, let’s just say that we have had a few teething problems! We are starting to get the hang of the process now and hopefully, we will now be able to have more wool in the creatures than on the floor!

In Numeracy, we have continued working on division and have finished the week off by looking at how we divide numbers that will leave remainders.

On Monday we finished off our focus on letter writing by writing some small notes to say thank you to people. Some of the class took these home so you might have found some surprise letters secretly left for you to discover.

Congratulations to Weronika who is now the P5/6 representative for the Rights Respecting Team here at Canmore. Several pupils were interested in applying for the position and put themselves forward for consideration. On Tuesday, following a round of presentations and a very, very close class vote, Weronika was selected as our new representative.  Well done to all of those who applied and presented.

I hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
