P5/6 Update

Once again, the week has just whizzed by! It only seems like yesterday when I was doing my last update. It was lovely to see so many of you during the last two parent contacts.

In Literacy, our focus has been on formal letter writing and the use of persuasive techniques to politely request something. I hope you enjoy reading their letter to you on Seesaw.  I must admit they were very convincing! We have also used these letters within Digital Literacy to learn how to politely email.

In Numeracy, we have continued to strengthen our understanding of multiplication strategies. Many in the class are now working on multiplication of a number by a double digit number. Our recent focus on neatness and layout has once again helped us with accuracy in this longer multiple step process.

In Context for Learning, the class looked at oil production - and how it can cause local environmental problems, followed by looking at how the burning of fossil fuels in general links to climate change. We had some super discussions around this topic. This will be the last week of this topic as we are planning to move on to a new mini enterprise topic in the run up to Christmas.

In RME, the class have learned a little about Diwali, which just finished a few days ago, and were very impressed by the Rangoli patterns which form a part of the celebrations.

I hope that you all have a safe and relaxing weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
