Good afternoon
This week we have really settled into the new term and the new challenges in our learning. In our mini Project 'Bright Sparks' we have been investigating different types of electrical circuits, and considering the advantages and disadvantages of these. Through investigating how to build circuits, we have expanded our knowledge of how electrical circuits work. I was very impressed with the resilience and problem solving skills shown by the children during this investigation.
In Numeracy, we have been learning how to make equivalent fractions. This proved quite a challenge, however we are now feeling much more confident in our ability to make these. Once again, we are learning how important it is to know our times tables!
In Literacy, we were learning the difference between similes and metaphors and we were creating metaphors of our own. I have some very peculiar looking children in ;rimary 5, reading the metaphors they used to describe their own faces!
Everyone is enjoying our new class novel 'The Boy at the Back of the Class'. The children had the opportunity to 'hot seat' the main character, an activity which they love doing,  and were asking some very thoughtful, considered questions.
In Field Good Friday we were working hard to plant our vegetable seedlings. The bed which we had so carefully weeded just a few weeks ago was full of weeds, so these had to be cleared first. We were definitely learning the frustrations of being a gardener. However, we know our plants are in good hands as our scarecrows are beside them to scare away any hungry birds.
I hope that you all enjoy a lovely Bank Holiday weekend
