Good afternoon
This week has been filled with lots of fun PE activities. On Tuesday we enjoyed the first of two hockey taster sessions run by Dunfermline hockey club. The children took part in some enjoyable warm up games to practise controlling the ball before quickly moving on to some simple games of hockey. The children all showed excellent sportsmanship and teamwork skills, and there were quite a few tired but happy faces by the end of the session. We are all really looking forward to next week’s session. Please remember that the children will need outdoor PE kit on Tuesday instead of Monday.
We followed our hockey session with a judo taster session on Wednesday. This was a very active, fun packed session where the children took part in a number of partner games and activities, demonstrating balance, strength and speed. Again, the children all engaged so well in the activities and there was lots of smiles and laughter involved.
This week we have been preparing for our trip to Duloch woods next Friday. As the final part of our Natural Connections Award , the Journeying element, we have to plan a safe walking route to the woods, taking into account any hazards or ‘take care’ points. We also have to plan what clothing and equipment will be needed, and also what other things need taken into consideration when going on a journey like this e.g. first aid kit, toilets etc. We have now completed all the planning, and are really looking forward to putting our plan into action next week.
This week we also started on the RSHP section of the health and well-being curriculum. This week we have been looking at love, friendships and relationships and the importance of feeling loved and cared for. This is also linking in very nicely with the themes in our class novel.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
