Good afternoon
This week there has been lots of fun, topical learning taking place in Primary 5, and these proved to be the highlights of our week.
On Tuesday in our project, we learned how Shrove Tuesday became known as pancake day during medieval times. To celebrate the occasion we all had the opportunity to try a delicious pancake – and  I don’t think anyone turned down that opportunity!
On Thursday Canmore celebrated World Book Day. In Primary 5 we had fun spending the whole day on a range of book related activities. The children all got the opportunity to choose a book at the great book swap. There was an incredible range of fabulous books on offer – so a huge thank you to everyone who was able to donate books for this wonderful event. After our book swap we all took part in a book quiz, working in teams to share our knowledge on a whole range of books. Congratulations to Lucas, Freya and Alyssa who scored highest in this challenge.
After break we then took part in an outdoor book themed scavenger hunt. This once again challenged the children’s knowledge of books, and their thinking skills. Everyone had fun trying to collect solve the clues and find the letters. We then went on to practise our new skills in creating Chatterpixes by making one about our favourite book.
After lunch we demonstrated our incredible creativity by making some wonderful corner bookmarks to help protect our books and keep our pages. We just had time for a quick game of book charades to finish of another great World Book Day.
I hope you have a lovely weekend – maybe even getting the chance to put your feet up and ‘get lost in a book’ yourselves.
