Good afternoon
This week primary 5 have been very busy planning and organising today’s Jeans for Genes Day. Our presenters delivered their presentations for the reconnectors on Monday, doing a fantastic job of explaining what Genes are, and how genetic disorders can affect people. They also explained how the Jeans for Genes charity can support children with genetic disorders. All their practise really paid off and they proved super representatives of our class. Our IT team also did a great job in supporting the presenters by running the Powerpoints and videos on the day. Our advertising team have done a wonderful job of creating attractive and informative posters advertising today’s events and you might be able to spot them displayed around the school if you happen to be down in the school grounds. Today we had more presenters announcing the winners of our “Design a Pair of Jeans’ competition, and our finance team did a superb job at counting the money raised. All in all, fantastic teamwork and a great effort by everyone.
As well as this we have also been working on identifying and naming 2D shapes, and learning about regular and irregular shapes. In literacy we have been learning how to answer inferential questions, becoming great text detectives looking for clues to the answers. Finally, in social studies we have been learning how to classify animals like a real scientist.
I’m sure you will agree it has been a very full week, and I haven’t even mentioned Run Club, the writing of Billy’s Adventure, our Ocean Powerpoints and so much more.
I am looking forward to talking with a number of you next week at our Parent Contact sessions. Until then, have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Haddow
