This week in primary 5 we have had lots of fun taking part in a range of practical activities, and applying our skills in different contexts.
In numeracy we planned and carried out a traffic survey on Aberdour Road, and then used our skills in drawing bar and line graphs to display our data. We have then gone on to learn how to calculate range, median and mode.
We are continuing to work on our animations on The Wars of Independence where we are learning to write narrations, plan and sketch backgrounds, and plan the actions of the characters. Everyone is engaging really well in this activity and I am really looking forward to seeing the finished results in the next few weeks.
We started our author study this week by investigating the language used by Roald Dahl, and we have had fun making up our own class dictionary of made up words, and illustrating them.
In our social studies we have been learning all about the role of William Wallace, and his victory at Stirling Bridge. We have been applying our measuring skills to make life sized models of his sword - quite a challenging task as the children are finding out. However, we are almost finished these and the children have shown perseverence and good thinking skills in tackling the problems they have encountered.
We started our health and well-being topic on RSHP (Living and Growing) this week where we were learning about changes we experience as we grow up.  Be prepared, you may be asked some questions about this!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and the sun comes out as we have been promised.
