Here we are at the end of another interesting week of learning in Primary 5. The term is just flying past.
A big highlight of this week was our Sports Day on Thursday. This was our first upper school sports day, and the children were all very excited to take part. We were so lucky that the rain stayed off just long enough for us to complete our sports and it was lovely to see the children having so much fun. I was so impressed by their teamwork and involvement in the potted sports, and by their sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout. It was absolutely wonderful to see our whole school community together supporting one another, and it was such a lovely, lively atmosphere.
In writing, we continued our work on personal recounts by writing a recount of our experience of Sports Day. The children were able to build on their recount skills and include more of their personal responses as the event was very fresh in their minds. We have now finished recording our book reviews for the class library display and these are available for you to listen to on Seesaw.  I am sure you will be as impressed with their reviews as I was.
In numeracy, we are now working on information handling. We have spent this week looking at different ways of displaying data, and learning how to read and draw scales on graphs. We have risen to this challenge really confidently and are making good progress with this topic.
The children are loving our topic of The Wars of Independence, showing a good understanding of the feudal system and a keen interest in the events so far. The Chuck Wallace programmes are proving a real hit, with the children constantly asking if we are going to be watching the next programme. We are going to be producing our own animations of some of the events of the Wars - watch out for Braveheart 2 coming your way in the next few weeks!
I hope you have a fun weekend
