Yet another week has flown by in primary 5. It has been lovely to chat to so many of you at our parent contact sessions over the last two weeks, and to update you on your child's progress so far in primary 5.

In Literacy, we have been learning how to write a good persuasive report, and have started to plan for writing our own report next week. We also enjoyed playing some games to help reinofrce our understanding of the difference between fact and opinion.

In Numeracy, we have continued to strengthen our understanding and use of different addition strategies. All the children have developed their confidence in addition through using these. In mental maths we have been using addition to calculate change. If you are shopping you could challenge your child and ask them if they can work out the change you will get from purchases you make (change from £1, £5 and £10)! In class we have now moved on to subtraction and we will be looking at different strategies we can use for answering different types of subtraction problems.

In social studies we have been engaging in outdor learning and we have been investigating the human impact on our environment within the school grounds. We discovered that building a school has a big impact on the natural environment, and we are now working on persuading Canmore pupils to be more aware of how they can limit the damage they are doing.

I hope that you all have a safe and relaxing weekend.
