This has been a very busy week in Primary 4. As it is Children's Mental Health Week we have been looking at different ways to help us develop positive mental health throughout this whole week. On Monday, we started with some fun Mindful Yoga. On Tuesday, we explored our emotions and feelings using the online Kitbag. We have also been learning to recognise when our body is telling us we are experiencing negative emotions and all the children have been thinking about strategies and activities they can use to help them control these feelings and not let them become overwhelming. These are different for everyone, and you might like to discuss with your own child what strategies they like to use.
In Numeracy we have had a big focus on learning and practising our times tables through a range of different fun games and activities. This week our main focus has been on the 4 times table, and this is something you can support your child with at home.
In Literacy we have been examining newspaper reports and working out what makes a good report, and also discovering how to structure a report. The children made lots of good observations and we have now started to create our own reports based on the mysterious disappearance of the adults in our class novel.
Today we said goodbye to Miss Anderson who has been with us for the last 5 weeks. The children have loved having her in class, and we wish her good luck in her next steps towards becoming a teacher.
Just a little reminder that next week the children are only in school on Monday and Tuesday, with the remainder of the week being a holiday.
I hope you have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Haddow
