Good Afternoon,
This week Primary 4 have been finishing off their topic on division. We learned about division with remainders and some of us were learning a strategy to divide larger numbers beyond our times tables. As always, please support your child by practising their times tables at home. Next week we will start to work on fractions, and the children will still be using their times tables for this work.
In literacy we have been learning to use commas properly in lists, and had fun looking at how putting the comma in different places in a sentence can change the meaning of the sentence completely. We also practised our formal letter writing skills as we wrote to the Roman Emperor asking for one of our friends to be considered for a job as a Roman soldier. We all gave ourselves Roman names - ask your child what their name was!
In our socialstudies topic we were learning about the impact the Roman invasion had on the lives of people living in Britain, and why some people welcomed the Romans and others wanted them to go back to Rome.
Today we had lots of fun for Red Nose Day. Congratulations to Lewis who won the 'Funniest Joke' competition for our class and went through to the final.
Finally, I was very impressed with the children's entries for the World Book Day book token competition this year. They showed lots of creativity and art skills creating their designs. These are available to view on Seesaw.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
