Good afternoon
It has been so lovely to see the sun out and blue skies this week - Spring is definitely on it's way.
This week in Primary 4 we have strated our topic on division, and have looked at how division is simply sharing or grouping numbers. The children have been making the link between division and their times tables, and have been practising their division skills with word problems and games.
In literacy this week we created some wonderful metaphor poems about someone special ( Ssssh! Some of you might get to read these next week, butIi am not going to spoil the surprise)! We also completed our last newspaper report in writing when our editor called on us to write a report on the first ever wobblequake in the Woleb. If this all sounds like gobbledygook, just ask your child for more information.
In our topic we have been learning why the Roman army was such a formidable fighting force and we will continue to learn more about that next week. We are also continuing with our STEM challenge ot build a working aqueduct. The children have been really engaged in this activity and are doing a great job of problem solving and working together.
Next Thursday we will be celebrating World Book Day in class with arange of fun book themed activities. The children are invited to come to school in onesies/pyjamas for the day, and we plan to have a fun 'snuggle with a story' session where the children can build their own reading dens in the classroom. In order to build their den the children are asked to bring in blankets/cushions etc on the day. Canmore are also running their annual book swap, so if you have any books your child no longer reads/has grown out of etc. they can bring them into school any time before next WEDNESDAY to allow the book swap to be organised and the books displayed ready for Thursday.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend
