Good afternoon,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend last week. The children all seemed to have fun and have settled in well to the school routine again.
This week we have finished our numeracy topic on multiplication and we will start a new topic next week. We will continue to practise our times tables and you can support your child by helping them practise these at home.
In literacy this week we have been learning to recognise and use metaphors and we had some super discussion around different metaphors and the pictures they created in our heads.
In our Romans topic we continued to explore how the Romans spent their free time when we learned about chariot racing. We compared and contrasted chariot racing with sports we watch and play today. For writing this week we then went on to create a newspaper report where we reported on Severus Victorius winning his first chariot race, which had a very dramatic final few moments!
In science we are linking our learning to our topic. Having learned about Roman aqueducts and their use of the force of gravity, we are now designing and building our own working aqueducts. Lots of problem solving and good thinking skills are being used in this, so look out for our final designs on Seesaw.
Yesterday was World Thinking Day and it was lovely to see some of our classmates wearing their Cub and Brownie uniforms to mark the occasion.
I hope you have a lovely weekend - I believe the forecast is quite settled, so fingers crossed.
