Good afternoon
First I would like to say how impressed I was with the children's performance at the Fife Festival of Music this morning. The children performed their three songs beautifully, and they should be proud of their efforts. They were a credit to yourselves and to the school throughout the morning and I am sure that all of you that managed to make it along to their performance were as proud of them as I was. A huge thank you to Mrs Baxter for giving up her free time to come into school and practise with the children over the past few weeks, and also to the parents who were able to come along and help on the day.
This week in literacy we have been practising our skills in inferring, and the children are becoming very good reading detectives. We have also been learning to recognise and use similes, and created some wonderful colour poems using these.
In numeracy we have been learning a strategy for multiplying two digit numbers. The children are working well with the strategy, but it is highlighting to them the need to  practise their times tables. Please try and support your child with this at home - there are some suggestions on the homework grid to help with this.
In our Roman topic we have been learning more about what life was like in Roman times, and focussed this week on Roman food and Roman toilets - and I don't think either appealed to many of the children! Dormice drizzled in honey did not prove popular with the class, and neither did public toilets with no privacy!
For those of you who have not had a chance to look yet, the homework grid for the remainder of this term has been posted on Seesaw.
Have a lovely weekend
