Good afternoon,
I hope you have all had a good week. This week in Primary 4 we have started to learn more about the world of work in our Enterprise topic. We all came up with ideas for names for our company, and democratically voted on the most appropriate - and so The Eco Elves was born. Our company will be making and selling our products at the Christmas Fayre.  We also learned about the different roles that we need in our company, and considered the different skills needed for each of the roles. The children then all chose which job they felt most suited their skills and interests. In writing they wrote job application letters and had to persuade me that they had the right skills for the job.
In writing this week we also used the characters we created from natural materials in outdoor learning last week to create a 5 part story involving our characters. The 5 part story model is proving lots of fun, and is helping us build short stories with a beginning, a middle and an end.
In numeracy we finished our topic on money applying our different skills in a budgeting activity where the children had to choose items for party bags, and work within a budget. Everyone worked really well on this activity, which had a variety of different challenges within it. We have now started on our next topic of addition and subtraction.
This week we have been working with Primary 5 on learning our songs for the Fife Festival of Music, and on learning The Virginia Reel and the Military Two Step for our Christmas party. There were some very red, flushed faces at the end of the day yesterday as we whirled and twirled our way through both dances.
Next week we will be having a team from the NHS in to administer the flu vaccines to the children on Thursday. As it is also St Andrews day next Thursday, the children are all invited to come to school wearing 'a touch of tartan'.
Have a lovely weekend
