What a wonderful week of weather we have had, and it has been so nice to see so many children in shorts and summer dresses. Summer is definitely on the way.
We have had another very busy week in Primary 4. One of the highlights of the week was engaging in a number of new off line coding games that the school now has. We really appreciated the help and assistance of Primary 7 in teaching us how to play the different games, and we are looking forward to more opportuinities to play with them. The microbits were also very popular, and allowed the children to practise some of the coding skills thay have learned in ICT. We also had fun making our Picassos animated using Chatterpix. Some of these have been posted on Seesaw, and we hope to have the rest uploaded soon for you to have a look at.
Our first group made their healthy snack this week - midnight oats with fresh fruit and honey. The children all got to sample these, and most children thought they were delicious. A few did not like them, but they did at least taste them, which is what they are encouraged to do. Several children had never tried blueberries before, but discovered that they really enjoyed them. This proved quite a popular healthy snack overall.
In health and well-being/science we have been learning about different types of germs, and the importance of good hygiene to stay healthy. In writing we wrote instructions for washing our hands properly. We also set up an experiment to test how effective soap and water and hand sanitiser are. It will be interesting to look at the results next week.
Just a little reminder that, weather permitting, we will be running a whole school sports day next Thursday starting at 9.30am.
Also, the lunch slips and money for our trip to Fordell Firs should be handed in by next Thursday in order that the school dinner staff can order in the necessary supplies for the following week.
I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend, and have my fingers crossed that the sun continues to shine.
