Good afternoon

A huge highlight of this week has to have been our trip to Duloch Woods on Tuesday. We were so lucky with the weather as it was a perfect day for our adventure in such a beautiful location. Our fun packed day was filled with den building, bug hunting and woodland games. This gave the children the opportunity to practise the skills they have been learning around teamwork and co-operation as well as connecting with their natural environment. The route the children had planned to get to the woods and back proved very successful. In writing the children wrote a personal recount of their own experiences of our trip and they were full of positive comments – and one of the loveliest features was how much they enjoyed spending lots of time with their friends.

Of course, there has also been a good amount of our daily routine still taking place. In numeracy we have been learning about am and pm times, and finding that this can sometimes be quite tricky to decide on, and we really have to use our thinking skills and some common sense. I do hope there are not many of the children watching a movie at 6am!

In social studies/science this week we have been learning all about the digestive system and how it helps our bodies get the nutrition from our food. We have also been busy planning healthy, nutritious snacks that we hope to be able to make, and eat, over the next few weeks. Our focus has been on how to make snacks healthier by making little changes e.g. brown bread instead of white bread, brown sugar or honey instead of white sugar etc.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend – the forecast is looking promising.
