Good afternoon
First of all, a big thank you to everyone who supported our eco-friendly fundraiser for our Adventure Day by buying the lovely petunias the children planted. The remaining plants have been put out in the school grounds today and are looking very colourful.
This week in numeracy we have had a big focus on reading clocks. the children are reading digital clocks very well, and are making good progress with reading analogue clocks. Saying the time as minutes to the hour is proving a little challenging, and we will consolidate this next week, but it is something you can support your child with at home by encouraging them to read the time on analogue clocks in their environment.
In literacy we have started a block of writing instructions. This week we wrote instructions for how to make a model jointed hand, and the children were learning that detail in instructions can be very important.  We have also been learning all about synonyms, and have been using a thesaurus to help us create synonyms.
As part of our Natural Connections Award, in outdoor learning we have been learning orienteering skills. We have been practising setting maps and following directions - we have our Journeying Day to Calais Muir Woods coming up very soon, and it is our job to plan the safest route there and back, and to follow our plan so these skills will prove very helpful.
Next week includes Outdoor Learning Day. Primary 4 will be be engaging in this on Friday next week, so there is no change to the day we need to come to school in outdoor learning clothes.
I hope you have a lovely weekend
