Good afternoon
This week Primary 4 have been learning to read digital clocks, and we have been calculating minutes past the hour and to the hour. We have worked really well on this and we are ready to move on to analogue clocks next week. We have also been learning strategies for working out how many days are in any particular month. You might like to ask your child to show you their knuckle strategy!
In literacy we have been continuing with reading our Roald Dahl novels, and this week we completed character studies on the main characters in our books. In writing we created our success criteria for writing a good set of instructions by studying a WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks like). We will be developing our skills in writing instructions and directions over the next few weeks.
I have to say, the class looked fabulous dressed to celebrate the King’s Coronation today. We were very proud of our Andy Warhol style portraits of King Charles displayed in the hall for everyone to admire.  As well as learning all about the symbols of the coronation, we were challenged to design a comfy, modern new throne for King Charles, including some modern technology within it. There were some very creative ideas indeed! A big thank you to Miss Graham and her P6’s for organising some traditional lawn games for us to play – we had a lot of fun learning how to play them. This afternoon we had our class ‘tea’ party, with coronation games and a snack. It was a lovely way to celebrate such a historic occasion.
All of you should have been able to watch your child’s video on Seesaw showing you their beautiful plants in a recycled bottle. If you wish to buy one, or both of these to help with the cost of our Adventure Day at Fordell Firs in June, please send your money in to school with your child. Many thanks for your support with this.
I hope you all have a lovely long weekend,
Mrs Haddow
