Good afternoon,
What a great week Primary 4 have had as they have been displaying their talents in performing. First of all, a huge thank you for all the support you gave your children in learning their Scots poems. It was a pleasure to listen to them all, and I have to say I was so impressed at their positive attitude and their willingness to have a go and do their best.
This week we have been practising our songs and our performance for the Fife Festival of Music next week. The children are singing really nicely, and we now just need to tweak the little details of our performance, ready for the stage next Wednesday. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to help on the day – I now have enough to cover our needs.
We had some fun celebrating Burns Day on Wednesday. We started off by writing some short alliterative poems in Scots, all about animals. Our poems were nonsense but fun, as we came up with lines such as ‘The bonnie baudron birlin’ in its baffies’ and ‘The daft dug in a dub wearing dookers.’ In the afternoon, after we were travelling and jumping in PE we cooled down playing  a Haggis Drive, and sampling some tasty Scottish treats.
In numeracy we have continued to work on practising the 4 times table, and we have also been learning a strategy to multiply any whole number by 10. You might like to ask your child to explain to you how to do this!
As we have now recited our Scottish poems, this term’s optional homework grid will be posted on Seesaw on Monday.
Also, a little reminder that all children should come to school in full school uniform on Wednesday for The Fife Festival of Music. As the hall is being used by visitors in the afternoon, we will not need our gym kits on Wednesday.
I hope you all enjoy a lovely weekend,
Mrs Haddow
