Primary 4 have been hard at work this week and have been busy preparing for the Christmas Fair next week.
In numeracy we are learning different strategies for subtraction. We have been working hard on learning and using expanded subtraction this week, and a number of the children have said they prefer this to the jump strategy.
In our social studies this week we learned how buying Fairtrade products here helps Fairtrade farmers earn enough money to meet their basic needs, and how the Fairtrade Premium helps their communitites to have essentials like clean water, schools and medical care. In literacy we continued to practise our skills in writing persuasively when we wrote some very persuasive arguments on why people should support Fairtrade.
In Enterprise we have been thinking about the skills and qualities needed for different jobs. We have also been thinking about our own particular strengths and skills, and applied for jobs in either the advertising team or the stall design team for our enterprise company 'Jingles Decorations'.
We have been looking at the language used in adverts to persuade us to buy products, and our advertising team are now using some of these to persuade you all to buy our wonderful crafts at next weeks Christmas Fair. Our crafts are getting the finishing touhes added, and I must say the children have done an amazing job on them.
As it is the Christmas Fair next week, there will be no Field Good Friday, and children are invited to come to school wearing Christmas jumpers next Friday.
It is fair to say that 1st December brought high levels of excitement, as advent calendars and elves on the shelves have appeared in houses. With this in mind, I hope you have a lovely, relaxing weekend!
