Good afternoon
As always, it has been a very busy week in primary 4. In numeracy we continued to develop strategies for subtraction. We have been using the jump line strategy this week and using it to complete trickier sums which cross, or bridge, tens and in some cases hundreds. This is a good strategy to use to work out subtraction sums in our heads and we will be working on this in mental maths next week.
In literacy the children are becoming more aware of how often we use persuasive language in real life. We completed our first persuasive report on the topic ‘Sweets should be banned in schools”  They made a fantastic first attempt at this and were using some good persuasive arguments and some great strong statements.
This week we also continued our journey in our roles as reading detectives. We were learning to answer inferential questions by looking carefully for clues in the text, and using our thinking skills to understand what the clues were telling us. We will continue to develop our detective skills over the next few weeks.
The Canmore Christmas Fair is fast approaching and we are all very excited to have a proper, real life Fair again. We have started to create some beautiful crafts to sell on the day, and we will be developing our enterprising skills over the next few weeks as we learn to produce, advertise and sell our products.
Have a lovely weekend
