Good afternoon,
This week Primary 4 enjoyed a special treat with a visit from The MacDougalls for a sing along assembly. We joined in with lots of fun and active songs and there was lots of laughter and happy faces throughout the show.
In numeracy we have started our topic on subtraction. We were busy using multilink cubes to look at part-part-whole relationships, and then went on to use the multilink to develop our understanding of what ‘find the difference’ means in numeracy. In mental maths we have been extending our skills in adding to 100, by calculating change from £1. The Christmas Fair is coming soon, and we are making sure we will be able to give customers the correct change on the day!
In literacy we have started to learn to write persuasively. We will be looking at persuasive techniques we can use in our writing and using these skills in reports, letters and adverts. We have made a good start on this, and if we continue as we have started, Santa is going to be receiving some very persuasive letters from Primary 4 this year!
Although it has been a very wet week, with some indoor breaks, there is a bright side to what we might think is miserable weather. Last week in outdoor learning, we set out some rain gauges to measure our rainfall, and so we can test how clean our rainwater is at various points in the school grounds. We are delighted that these are filling up beautifully, and we should have plenty of rain water to test and filter next week!
I hope you have a lovely long weekend,
Mrs Haddow
