Good afternoon
This week in Primary 4 we have been very busy finding our way! In Numeracy, we have been learning about grid references and had lots of fun taking part in different games and activities to practise our skills. We have played grid reference Connect 4 and we have played grid reference Find The Treasure – both of which can be played with some squared paper. Just a wee idea for the holidays in case you are looking for something cheap and cheerful (and portable) to play.  Just ask your children for the rules.
We have also been finding our place in the country. In Social Studies, we identified Scotland on maps of Great Britain, and looked at its location and its size compared to the other countries. As our new King officially declared Dunfermline a city on Monday, we located and placed the cities of Scotland on a map of the country too. We then went on to focus on our local area, looking at maps and finding our way around Canmore and the surrounding area.
In Literacy, we finished our class novel, and we were amazed at the changes in the main characters that happened in the story – particularly Spud Murphy. We then wrote our own character descriptions of Spud Murphy in an imaginary adventure between Spud Murphy and Marty. We were very busy using adjectives to describe Spud’s actions, behaviour and appearance.
In Art, we have been finishing our gorgeous peacocks using line and colour. We have enjoyed using the oil pastels to create bold colours – although they can be a little messy when they melt in our fingers! Our pictures should be on display in our area soon as we are very pleased with our proud peacocks.
I hope you all have a restful and relaxing holiday, whatever you have planned. Fingers crossed for some lovely weather!
