Good afternoon,
This week we have started on our special project of organising Canmore’s Jeans for Genes Day. Everyone has been given a role to play and we are working hard to make this a big success, and lots of fun. Our presenters have their scripts to practise. These are in their school bags each day, and if your child is presenting it would be really lovely if you could help them practise at home to help build their confidence. Our advertising team have started designing and creating posters, and our ICT team are learning what they need to do and when. I have to say their enthusiasm and teamwork in this has been brilliant.
In Numeracy, we are continuing to work on place value and numbers. This week our main focus has been on building a strategy for ordering numbers from low to high, and high to low. We have also started to look at numbers halfway between two numbers.
In Literacy, we are having a big focus on sentence building skills. We are also learning about adjectives, and making a big effort to put them into our writing. This week we were learning to describe a setting, and we have been done all the planning for this now ready to write next week. Please ask your child to describe their magical jungle to you at home.
Can I please ask that you support children to have indoor gym shoes with them on a Wednesday and a Friday? Almost half the class did not have them this week. Our P.E slots are both after lunchtime, and the children are sometimes coming in with wet, muddy or grassy shoes and this is making a big mess in our hall. There is also a class that comes in after us and we need to be mindful of this. Thank you for your support with this.
