Good Afternoon

Egyptians, Egyptians, Egyptians! That is what has been on our minds this week and with our Ancient Museum Open Day, we focused our learning this week on the preparations for this… and there was much to be done!

The first job on our list was to write invitations for the big event. After looking at some example invitations, discussing the key features of ‘Good invitations’ we had a go at writing our own, inviting you all to our class Museum, which you should have received on Monday evening.

Mrs Grieg was very disappointed to have missed seeing us dancing last Friday, so we were more than happy to have one final dress rehearsal of our Creative Dance on Tuesday. Afterwards Mrs Greig was very complimentary saying that it was the best dance she had ever seen in fact it was utterly FAB-U LOUS, which is high praise indeed from the queen of creative dance.

On Wednesday we divided into groups with each group choosing an area of the Ancient Egyptians to focus on. After researching our topic areas using a variety of Non-fiction texts and the internet, taking notes along the way, we set about creating information posters, fact-files and leaflets to display around our Museum.

Despite Mrs Baxter not working as our Music teacher anymore she has continued to help us develop our musical skills and talents through the singing of two very special Egyptian songs ‘Come to Egypt’ and ‘Building a Pyramid’. We have spent some time each day this week practising these songs and hope that we have made Mrs Baxter proud in our performance of these.

This learning process culminated on Friday with our very successful Museum Open Day. We would like to say a very big thank you to all parents, carers and family members who came along to support us. We hope you enjoyed sharing our learning from this term!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and I will see you all on Monday for our last week of P3/4.
