Good Afternoon,

Another short but very busy week. I have been very impressed with the hard work and concentration demonstrated by all the children this week.

After our successful trip last week, to the Crematorium woods, we decided to go again. This time we participated in a woodland scavenger hunt. We had great fun working cooperatively with a partner, searching the woodland floor and trees for the different items on our list. Some of the items were a little trickier to find but with perseverance we all complete the task.

Please Note: Due to a special school event next Thursday afternoon, our trip to the woods next week will been postponed. Outdoor Learning will still take place on Thursday afternoon, and children should still come to school prepared for our learning, but we will not need any parent helpers next week.  Thank you to all the people who have volunteered so far, your help is very much appreciated.

We are delving deeper into our Egyptian Topic this week.  We looked at a timeline of events that happened and were surprised to discover that the year numbers went backwards with the largest number being at the beginning of the Egyptian Era. We also noticed that the letters BC (meaning Before Christ) were behind the years. We then carried out some research on Pharaohs, and during our digital literacy lesson participated in a Pharaoh Web-quest using the internet to search for answers to the question about pharaohs.

In Numeracy we have been looking at our multiplication using our times table facts and arrays to help us work out the answers to the multiplication questions. Some of us also looked at how to multiply a 2-digit number by 2, 3, 4, or 5.

For writing this week we continued to develop our persuasive writing techniques. This time we were to design ‘The best Bike in the World’ with lots of different features and label the drawing. We had bikes with jet packs and rockets for super-fast travel, heated and reclining seats for comfort, some were even automatic with wings and buttons. We then had to plan what we could write to persuade Miss Yorkston that our bike designs were the best and that she should buy them.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
