Good Afternoon,

Once again it was lovely to meet with so many of you on Monday this week for Parents Evening and having the opportuntiy to discuss progress in learning.

In Numeracy this week we have turned our attention to learning about data analysis and graphs. This week we have focussed on using surveys to collect information/data and displaying this on Pictograms. On Monday we took a survey of the number of different coloured cars in the staff carpark and on Wednesday we worked collaboratively  in groups to create a survey for a question of our choice. Each group then asked their question to either P1, P1/2, P2 or P3 and collated the data in the form of tally marks. Once we returned we then used this data to create a pictogram using a key where one symbol was equal to 2, 5 or 10 children. Next week we will use this information again to learned about and create diffrent graphs including bar graphs, line graphs and pie charts.

For Spelling this week most of us were learning how to spell words with the 'y' says 'ie' sound and some of us were learning to spell words with the final consonant blend sound 'ng'. During our lesson we used our knowledge of these spelling rules to help spell words as well as writing them in a sentence. We also learned to identfy the syllables in the words to support our spelling of these. please see Seesaw for this weeks Spelling Homework.

Elsewhere in Literacy over the past couple of week we have been learning to identify whether statements about the books we are reading are true or false. This week we looked more closely at this skill and had to give a reason why!

One of the highlights this week was recieving a letter from a very peculiar character, Marvin, who is a Mole, who lives underneath our field area. In his letter Marvin asked us about our outdoor learning experiences and which were our favourites so far. In our writing lessons we looked at the structure of a letter and created a WAGOLL (what a good one looks like). We then had a go a writing Marvin back and sharing with him about our favourite Outdoor Learning activities.

The second highlight was having the opportunity to watch our peers in P3 perform the dress rehearsal of their dance, for the Creative Dance Festival. We were truly amazed by the amAzing efforts and dancing skills displayed by all and we would like to wish them all the best for the Music Festival.

With only one week to go before our Easter break, we can't wait to see what fun and exciting learning experiences we will participate in next week.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
P3/4 and Miss Yorkston
