Good afternoon,

With it now being December the excitement and the countdown for Christmas has begun! This week we have been very busy making our enterprise crafts to sell at the Canmore Christmas Fayre next week. We have now completed our Sock Penguins and although at times they required a lot of problem solving (especially when the glue wouldn’t hold the white felt!) we all persevered and have created rather cute looking penguin teddies.  Look out on Seesaw for more details on how to buy these and other items at the fayre next week.

In writing this week we put our learning about advertisement to the test and created posters to display around the school, advertising our enterprise crafts. We learned that a good poster should have, clear, bold writing, short, snappy sentences or phrases, detailed pictures/diagrams of the item for sale and an eye-catching layout.

In Numeracy, we have been looking at addition calculations with missing parts. We have again used our empty number lines to help us achieve this. We have all been showing our resilience for this and the hard work is really paying off. Next week we will be moving on to look at subtraction of numbers within 100 and 1000.

For health and wellbeing this week we listened to the story ‘Be Kind’ By Pat Zeitlow Miller. Afterwards we discussed what being kind means to each of us. We then created a kindness advent calendar to help us countdown the days left until Christmas. Each day one person will open the calendar and have a kindness challenge/task to complete that day. These activities range from give 5 people a hug to tell a funny joke to make us laugh.

Our topic this week saw us begin the next step of the design process for creating our new board games. Following on from last weeks successful research we worked cooperatively in our company groups to shre our ideas and make a start to designing our new board games. Miss Yorkston was very impressed with the level of engagement in this task and can’t wait to have the opportunity to hopefully play these board games soon.

Wishing you a wonderful first weekend in December
