Good afternoon,
Firstly, we would like to thank all our parents who took the time to come along to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon last Friday. We thoroughly enjoyed giving you a tour of our class area and sharing with you our favourite areas. We hope you enjoyed it too! It was a very busy afternoon, so Miss Yorkston is looking forward to having the opportunity to chat more during our parent contact sessions, over the next two weeks.

Our focus in Literacy this week has been on identifying and using adjectives. For writing this week we completed a piece of writing on describing ‘The Troll’. We had a go at identifying and generating adjectives that we could use to describe many aspects of the troll, including what he looks like, smells like and acts like. We then drew a picture of the troll, based on our descriptions. We will continue to work on our sentence building skills using adjectives.

In Numeracy we were learning to partition numbers to 100, 1000 and 10000 using the part-whole model. We now have a better understanding of 2-digit, 3-digit and 4-digit numbers and the value of each digit in these numbers. Next week we will be moving on to look at counting in 10s, 100s and 1000s.

For our topic this week we learned all about the water cycle and with a partner from P3 created an experiment to watch the water cycle in action.  At this time, we would like to ask that if you have any empty 2 litre plastic bottles, can you please send them into school before Thursday 22nd September as we are hoping to use them in another experiment next week.

Reminder that as Monday is a bank holiday next week, reading books should be returned on Tuesday.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Miss Yorkston and P3/4
