Good Afternoon,

What a very quick week we have had in P3 this week with lots of fun and exciting new learning.
In Literacy this week we turned our attention to a new text type- comics. We looked at the features of comics and how they use thought and speech bubbes to tell the story. We then had a go at writing our own thought bubbles for some interesting pictures, re-telling the story of ‘Supertato’ as a comic using thought bubbles. Please see Seesaw for examples of our super work. We look forward to further exploring thought bubbles and learning about speech bubbles/direct speech next week.

We also started our focus on Multiplication and Division in our Numeracy sessions. We explored multiplication as ‘groups' of’ this week and learned to recognise, make and add ‘groups of’ to solve multiplication problems. Have a look on Seesaw for example videos of us practising this skill. We also reinforced our learning of the 2 times table by playing a variety of games including times table bingo, multiplication snakes and ladders and our favourite online game Hit the Button. We all agree that having a quick recall of our tables is important in helping us with our multiplication and division learning so keep playing the games suggested on our homework grid to quicken/consolidate this understanding at home.

We started our new topic this week- The Vikings. At the beginning of the week we learned all about the origins of the Vikings and discovered that the Viking originated from Scandinavia – Norway, Sweden and Denmark and travelled to the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe in search of new land to farm on. Later in the week we took a closer look at the period of the Vikings and created a timeline of important events. We have lots of new learning and activities to look forward to as we delve deeper into this interesting topic for the remainder of term. We also have many wonderful Viking related homework activities that some of us have already begun to look at. We are hoping to host a Viking Museum in the last week of term, in which you will all be invited to come and share in our learning throughout the topic. Please look on Seesaw in the coming weeks for more specific information regarding this.

Finally we ended the week with some Outdoor Learning activities. Please see Seesaw for photos and videos of our experiences.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
