Good afternoon,

The highlight of our week was definitely our Christmas Fayre today! We would like to thank all parents who were able to come along to support us. It was lovely to see so many of you joining in with us at this festive time and we hope you enjoyed the whole experience. I am certain that you will agree with me that P3 did a truly terrific job at creating some festive items and treats for you all.

In further news we have continued looking at addition this week by learning a new strategy, the partitioning strategy.  With this strategy we are learning to add two 2-digit numbers together, by splitting the numbers into their Tens and Ones.  Most children are working towards using this strategy to add numbers up to 100, with some children focusing on numbers within 50. Although we found this tricky at the beginning of the week, with continuous practise through games and active learning we have grown in confidence with this.

In Literacy we also continued with our block of imaginative writing. Over the weeks we have been focussing on creating a story with characters, setting and a beginning, middle and end. This week we used our plans to write the beginning of our story. We are all trying very hard to write in full sentences and use our learning of different connectives to make these longer.

Our Scottish Country Dancing skills are developing well. Please see seesaw of the videos of us as we practise. Next week we look forward to joining P3/4 on Thursday to practise both dances ahead of our Christmas party next week.  With this in mind we will not be participating in PE on Monday next week so school uniform can be worn on Monday.

We enjoyed our outdoor learning this week. We were learning all about Migration and completed a migration challenge. Please note that this will be our last Welly Wednesday of the term. With the run up to Christmas we as a school have number of collective festive treats to enjoy. Welly Wednesday will reconvene in the new term, with dates to be confirmed.

We hope you have a great weekend!

Miss Yorkston and P3
