Good afternoon and welcome to December!
Our classroom has resembled that of Santa’s Workshop this week, with us all working like busy little elves making the final preparations for next Friday’ Christmas Fayre.
We have each created two items to sell at our stall. The first being a Santa Gonk keyring or hanging decoration and the second a candy cane character (as pictured above). These will be available to purchase along with a handmade gift bag on the day of the Fayre. Please look out on Seesaw early next week for our advertisement poster which will provide further details about pricing for our items.

In numeracy, we have focused on the number line strategy for addition this week. We have slowly grown in confidence with some pupils now using this to bridge over the tens. We will continue using this strategy with larger numbers next week.

In Literacy we continued with our block on creative writing. Using the title stimulus, ‘The day my toys came to life’ and using the categories ‘Who, Where, When, and What’, we briefly planned our stories focussing on what will happen at the beginning, middle and end. We then made a start to our story by writing the beginning, with our focus being on using different openers to our sentences. We are all trying hard to work on our individual targets for writing and have begun to self-assess our own work.

Our preparations for the big C continued towards the end of the week with us joining together with P3/4 to learn and sing the songs for the Nativity, (Please see Seesaw for some videos of our efforts. At Canmore we love this festive period and all the joy it brings, but our favourite is being part of the Nativity Choir and helping support the Primary 1s in the telling of the Nativity story.

We Hope you have a wonderful weekend
