Good afternoon,
It has been another busy week in Primary 3.

We are loving our Toys topic. This week we explored when the first of many different toys were invented and worked together to create a timeline. We were surprised to discover that some toys are actually older than we first thought but had a good discussion as to why.

We also used Toys as a theme for our writing this week. After watching the introductory clip from the movie ‘Toy Story’, we used this as a stimulus to inspire a creative story about a time when our own toys came to life. We each chose a toy from home as our main character and used what we have learned previously about describing a character to write a brief character description that we can use in our future story.

Our Welly Wednesday afternoon was the most enjoyable this week. After reflecting on our biodiversity grounds survey, conducted last week, we decided that we need to try and make our school playground a more biodiverse area and to try encourage more local wildlife. To do this we worked in small groups, using leaves, sticks, grass and other natural materials found in and around our garden to create hibernation dens for hedgehogs. Please Seesaw for photographs of us hard at work and our wonderful creations.

In numeracy, we have put our learning about money on pause and we are now exploring addition/subtraction. We have focused this week on demonstrating our understanding of addition and subtraction from last year by completing a pre assessment. We have also developed our mental maths skills by playing a number of number bond games.

We ended the week, looking ahead to our upcoming Christmas Fayre and even began to create our first craft Item. Look out on Seesaw for more information about this coming soon!

As always we hope you have a wonderful weekend.
