Good afternoon,

It has been a very busy week in Primary 3.

In Numeracy/Mathematics we continued our learning around money. Our focus this week was on using coins to create totals. Most of us were confidently able to use coins to make different pence totals up to £1 and some of us were exploring creating totals including pounds and pence. We hope that you enjoyed watching us develop this learning on Seesaw.

In literacy we learned to identify onomatopoeia, a word the sounds like what it means e.g. thud, crash bang etc.  After watching and listening to a video of Bonfire Night celebrations we collectively created a list of onomatopoeic sounds that we could hear for fireworks. We then used our onomatopoeic words to create a setting description of a bonfire/fireworks display. We also created onomatopoeic word tags for our Literacy display in class.

In PE we have been developing our ball skills through learning how to play ‘Handball’. Over the weeks we have learned three different passes, chest pass, shoulder pass and bounce pass. This week we focused our learning on using one of these passes to pass to each member of our teams to ensure everyone have a fair turn. Next week we will be beginning our learning of Scottish Country Dance.

For topic this week we worked together in small groups to identify old and new toys. We found it interesting hearing the different opinions and reasons behind each groups choice and discovered that some toys we regard as being quite new toys are actually very old.

A highlight this week was learning to speak a different language, Spanish. We have had fun learning how to greet someone in Spanish and the different words/phrases we can say. Ask us about this learning.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
