I can’t quite believe that it is the end of term already. It seems like only yesterday that I was welcoming you all into Primary 3. What a term we have had full of fun highlights and lots of hard work.

Firstly, thank you to those parents and carers who took the time to meet with me this week and last. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to share all the good news about the progress the children have been making and how well they have settled and are working together in P3.

In Literacy we completed our block on character description, by writing a description about a well-known character from the story 101 dalmatians. That’s right we wrote a description about Cruella DeVil and we had a lot to write about! Many of us were able to write at least 5 sentences and remembered to include lots of adjectives, Miss Yorkston was very proud!

In numeracy we have been continuing to order 2-digit and 3-digt numbers as well as sequencing numbers to 100 and 1000. We have also been learning to identify the numbers before, after, in between, and identifying 2, 5 and 10 more or less than. We have enjoyed singing counting songs and participating in many play-based learning activities to support us with this learning.

For Topic this week we become weather forecasters. On Tuesday we watched an online weather forecast video and listened carefully to the language that was being used when giving the weather reports for the next 5 days. Then working in small groups, we were given 1 of 5 weather scenarios (something that might happen in Scotland) these included Heatwave, Thunderstorms, Flood, High winds and changeable weather. After discussing different weather types and temperatures that might lead up to these types of weather we then had a go at writing our own weather forecast for a week. Taken a day each we wrote what the weather would be like on that day. Miss Yorkston then filmed us in front of a map of Scotland as we each gave our reports. It was a wonderful way to round off our Weather topic and our term.  Miss Yorkston is hopeful that she will be able to share these on Seesaw with you very soon!

We wish everyone a restful and enjoyable October break.
