Good afternoon everybody.

We have been involved with Internet Safety Day on Tuesday this week where we looked at what are the safe and unsafe things to share on the Internet. The children are aware that they are better to use a code name for themselves on any games etc they play as this helps to keep them safe.

It has also been Mental Health Awareness Week and we have looked at various breathing techniques that they can use if they are feeling sad, angry, stressed, etc. I shared some photos on Seesaw showing them very relaxed! We continued to look at feeling calm and discussed the strategies they can use when they need to.

In our IT slots this week we explored the new Sumdog house that has been developed. I think most of the children are happy with the changes they have made. We also researched animals from Ancient Egypt. Some of the snakes and crocodiles were quite frightening. I am sure they will be happy to share their findings with you.

In Numeracy, the children are continuing to create tessellations using mosaic tiles. They are having fun thinking of what patterns they can create using tessellation.

Our Big Writing this week was characterisation. We have read 2 chapters from our class novel Flat Stanley going on a visit to Egypt. We discussed how the author tells us about him without giving us lists. We are also looking at our presentation by ensuring our writing is a good size and is on the lines or with tail letters, below the lines.

We have made death masks of pharaohs in Art today and are going to add them to our wonderful Pyramid display, it will look amazing. We also used our maths skills to make sugar cube pyramids and it was great to see team and problem solving skills used to good effect.

Thank you to everyone who brought in the Rag Bags.

Have a wonderful mid-term break. (Wednesday - Friday)

Miss Shearer
