Good afternoon,

Another week nearly over. The time seems to be flying past at the moment.

The children have made really good progress with their 3D shape and are happy to name the shapes as well as talk about their properties. They have shown a good understanding of shape in our environment. They had fun making 3D shapes from lolly sticks and plasticine. They can also describe a shape to the class by using the feely bag to hide a shape and describe to the class by talking about the properties.

We have explored what the ancient Egyptians wore (the children were surprised/shocked to hear that the children quite often did not wear any clothes!) We have also looked at daily life for people in these times and listened to a story written by a young girl who had to work really hard to help her family on a daily basis. It was hard work!
We used our research skills in ICT to find out information about Pharaohs.
In Big Writing we wrote the instructions to make an Egyptian Collar and used our instructions to make the collar on Friday. I think they have made an excellent job of them.

We are making a pyramid display in our class and will post photos when it is complete.

Thank you for those who took part in the Birdwatch last week. I hope the fat balls were all enjoyed by the birds. We do seem to have a lot of Magpies in our gardens now!

We have started to read a Flat Stanley book as our class novel. He is on his way to Egypt. The children labeled an outline of a boy and described his character.  They were able to tell that he was kind, caring and brave amongst other things.

The children made a few crafts to help celebrate Chinese New Year on Tuesday   It looks like most of the class were born are the Year of the Horse.

In Health and Wellbeing we have looked at a variety of ways to help us stay calm. They have made a booklet that has different strategies to help with this.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Miss Shearer
