Good afternoon everyone.
What a quick, busy week it has been!
We have worked hard at learning to count in 2's, 5's and 10's. The children are able to add on and subtract from any number within 100 (and some beyond) I am sure they would love to share their skills with you. They really enjoyed the Jack Hartmann workout videos that have helped us learn to count on.
We looked at movement - pushing, pulling, rolling, etc for toys and progressed to making a ramp for a marble to roll down it at least 3 times without falling off. They were given a ruler and marble and had to decide what they would make their ramp with. We definitely have some budding engineers in the making! It was lovely to observe them sharing ideas and supporting others to be successful.
We used Literacy skills in our outdoor learning this week by finding things with specific sounds and making their names from twigs.
Please can all reading books are returned by Monday as there are still a lot of children forgetting to do so and it means that their reading record sheets are not updated.
We are using the 'I See, I Think, I Wonder' strategy in our Big Writing to expand our writing of sentences.
Sumdog are starting a challenge on Friday that finishes next Thursday evening. We have made a little start to it in our Maths time this morning. It would be great to have the children take part at home to help the class gain points.
We want to give a special thanks to the P6's for organising such a great MacMillan Fun Day. The children really enjoyed it.
We have made Thaumatropes today in Art. The children took care to colour in the fine detail. I hope they enjoy sharing their results with you.
We enjoyed taking part in the Race For Life this morning. I did wear my wellies!
It has been really lovely to catch up with so many of you for parents night. I look forward to chatting to the rest next Thursday. I really hope that things will be back to normal for our next one so I can put faces to voices.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Miss Shearer
